New Customer

CUSTOMER SERVICE – NEW CUSTOMER

Applications for new service are accepted at the Smiths Water & Sewer Authority office Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. eastern time.  Applications for service will not be accepted after 4:30 p.m. Service applications made by 12:00 p.m. will be processed the same day. Service applications made after 12:00 p.m. may be processed the following business day.  Please visit our office in person to establish a new account as we do not take applications for service over the phone. The following is required in order to establish new service.

 

 For Residential Service

 

  • Home owners: A legal document proving ownership of property. Acceptable documents include a settlement statement (from mortgage closing), warranty deed, or property tax valuation notice
  • Renters: A signed, dated lease agreement. Must include property address, tenant’s name, landlord’s name and telephone number. If you do not have a binding lease agreement with your landlord, you may substitute with a SWSA Rental Verification Form.
  • A valid state or federal government issued photo identification
  • Property with existing service tap: $ 100.00 non-refundable account set- up fee* payable at time of application for service
  • Property with no existing service tap: $ 1,925.00 (standard service tap) payable at time of application for service. This fee includes a water tap fee, a water impact fee, $ 100.00 account set- up fee* and $ 75.00 for the required dual check back flow preventer and hand valve.

 

 

*The $100.00 non-refundable account set-up fee shall increase to $ 200.00 for individuals who have previously left a delinquent balance outstanding.   In this event, the customer shall pay all delinquent balances and charges associated with the previous account(s) prior to re-establishing service.

 

For Commercial Service

 

  • Business license, lease agreement, or legal document proving legal occupancy and/or ownership of property
  • A valid state or federal government issued photo identification
  • Property with existing service tap: $ 100.00 non-refundable account set- up fee*
  • Property with no existing service tap: $ 1, 925.00 (standard service tap). This fee includes a water tap fee, a water impact fee, a $ 100.00 account set-up fee* and $75.00 for the required dual check back flow preventer and hand valve.

 

*The $ 100.00 non-refundable account set-up fee shall increase to $ 200.00 for previous customers who have left a delinquent balance outstanding.   In this event, the customer shall pay all delinquent balances and charges associated with the previous account(s) prior to re-establishing service.

 

All fees are due and payable at the time of application for service.
